Writing Bangla in Ubuntu Linux 10.04 LTS

Ubuntu is not only a best operating system but also a great philosophy which tells 'Humanity to others'. After installing Ubuntu 10.04 i faced a problem to write Bangla. At last i have got a solution to write Bangla in Ubuntu by using Unijoy keyboard. Unijoy is very popular Bangla keyboard you might use it before.

Just follow the steps -

Step 1. Go to System > Preferences > IBus Preferences

Step 2. Select ‘Input Method’ tab first and then click on the ‘Select an input method’. Then you will get a list of languages, from them select Bengali > unijoy (m17n). Then click on the ‘Add’ button to add your unijoy keyboard.

Step 3. Then click on ‘General’ tab & set the Keyboard Shortcuts for ‘Enable or disable’ and ‘Next input method’. You can configure them as your wish.Do not forget to select 'show icon on system tray' and 'show input method name on language bar'.

Step 4. Click on ‘Close’. No more steps. You have done.

Write Bangla any where you like from OpenOffice.org Word processor to your browser search box.
